Aveade was founded on August 05, 2020, by Hasane Mathe II, driven by a vision to make opportunities accessible. What began as a small online venture in college, turned into thriving platform, built on resilience, innovation, inclusion and a deep commitment to the community. Born and raised in the village of Mokopane, Limpopo province, as the sixth of the seven children, Hasane Mathe started with just R4600 ($260) saved over a year, while selling 2 sku of electronic study material and 5 earrings online. Operating from his bedroom, with a laptop gifted by his brother, he utilised various online marketplaces and payment systems, navigating the complexities of domestic and international trade. Hasane's competitive drive and strategic acumen, while leading to rapid growth, also presented unique challenges. Facing exclusion from third-party marketplaces and denied access to payment APIs, he took the bold step of building his own platforms. Even when courier services deemed Diepsloot, the area where Aveade was established, a high-risk delivery area, Aveade fearlessly completed over 10 000 deliveries with a flawless record. His mother, Hellen Mathe, a retired domestic worker, lent him R5000 ($277) from dowry (lobola) that was received for one of Hasane's sisters, a contribution that fueled Aveade's growth to over R4 million ($220k) in revenue without traditional marketing. The name "Aveade" means making things accessible, and is embodied in our core mission. We are committed to building on this foundation, expanding our reach, and continue to make a positive impact. This journey forms the foundation of what Aveade is and where we are today.
